Food Pantry

Our “shopping style” food pantry was added to the meals program in September 2011 in response to our friends in the neighborhood who reported running out of food stamps and not having enough to eat in nearby subsidized housing.

Each month, as many as 350 households receive enough groceries to prepare more than 6,000 meals on their own. Reflecting our focus on community-building, over half of our pantry volunteers are also pantry “shoppers” who manage “their” section of the groceries each month.

Our Volunteers’ Lunch, held before the pantry opens, not only feeds volunteers from low-income housing but builds a sense of ownership and belonging. The pantry is open monthly, on 4th Thursdays, from 1-3:30 pm.

Our doors open at 12 pm for hospitality in the church sanctuary, so no one is waiting in long lines.
